1. Who we are
News Express Solutions Private Limited ("we", "us", "our") operates the Cortex mobile app ("the App"). The App is for authorized company field staff only. It is not intended for the general public or for children.

2. Information we collect
When you use the App, we may process:
Account and identity
- Email address and sign-in credentials / session information used to authenticate you
- Your Cortex staff profile after login (for example name, role such as pickup captain or pickup incharge, and related account identifiers)
- Sign-in is provided by Clerk, our authentication provider.
On-device storage
- A local cache of your profile on your device (so the App can work when connectivity is limited). Session tokens are managed by Clerk, not stored in that local profile cache.
Operational content you submit or access
- Pickup-request information you view or update as part of your work
- Photos and files you capture or select in the App (for example LR images and loading proofs) and related operational metadata
Device and technical data
- Limited technical information needed to run the App (for example network connectivity checks and app version)
- Authentication-related device features when used through Clerk (for example biometrics or passkeys, if enabled)
We do not use third-party advertising SDKs in the App.
We do not currently use separate analytics or crash-reporting tools in the App.
3. How we use information
We use this information to:
- Authenticate you and confirm you are provisioned to use the App
- Show and update pickup requests for your role
- Upload, store, and process operational proof media tied to pickups
- Operate, secure, and support the App and related logistics workflows
4. How we share information
We share information only as needed to run the App and our logistics operations, including with:
- Clerk - authentication and session management. Clerk processes authentication-related data as our service provider. For details on how Clerk handles data (including where Clerk may process data), see Clerk's privacy policy.
- Our hosting and infrastructure providers - application and operational data for the App are hosted on DigitalOcean in Bangalore (BLR1) and related systems we use to run Cortex.
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
5. Where data is processed
App / logistics data we control is hosted on DigitalOcean in the Bangalore (BLR1) region.
Authentication data is processed by Clerk. Clerk's processing locations are determined by Clerk's service and policies; see Clerk's privacy documentation for current details.
6. Data retention
- Operational records (including pickup data and uploaded proof media): retained indefinitely for now, for logistics, business, and compliance needs, unless we change this practice and update this policy.
- Local profile cache on your device: may be cleared when you log out or uninstall the App.
- When a staff user leaves: we deactivate login so the account can no longer sign in. We delete that user's personal account/profile data within 6 months after deactivation, except where we must keep specific records longer for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or operational requirements (for example logistics documents tied to shipments). Where we must retain records, we will limit use to those purposes.
7. Account and deletion requests
Accounts for this App are created and provisioned by us for authorized staff. The App does not offer public self-registration.
To request information about your data, or deletion of personal data associated with your App account (subject to the retention rules above), email akshaya@newsexpresssolution.com. We may need to verify that you are the account holder before acting on a request.
8. Security
We use measures appropriate to the nature of the data, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) for production API traffic and access controls so only provisioned users can use the App.
9. Children's privacy
The App is for authorized adult staff. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the higher minimum age required in your jurisdiction).
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date and the page at https://nespl.co.in/app/privacy-policy will show the current version. Continued use of the App after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
